ABOUT ORIOL GILI
ITU Level III Certified Triathlon Coach — Girona-Based, Globally Available

WHO I AM
The engineer who became a coach — and never stopped being both
You can see the engineering background in how methodical and dedicated he is. 100% recommended.” — Víctor Álvarez
I’m Oriol Gili, originally from Barcelona, now based in Girona — one of the world’s best training destinations for endurance sports. I work individually with triathletes, cyclists, and runners, and I also support clubs and national federations.
My background in Industrial Engineering (UPC) shapes how I approach training: solid periodisation, data-driven decisions, and the discipline to execute task by task. I stay at the cutting edge of sports technology — TrainingPeaks, power meters, HRV — because your data should work for you, not sit unused in an app.
I’m also an amateur triathlete myself. My current Ironman PB is 8:54h. I know what it costs — and exactly what it takes.

Official Qualifications — What They Mean & Why They Matter
When choosing a coach, always ask for the specific official certification in the sport. Being certified and registered with the regional sports authority (CCAA) is a legal requirement in Spain — and guarantees the professional has completed a recognised, rigorous training programme.
Types of Certifications Explained
- Official (Ministry of Education): Approved by the Ministry, with the most rigorous hour requirements. Triathlon: Level I (275h) · Level II (540h) · Level III (610h — the highest)
- Federation certifications: Shorter courses offered by sports federations. Must align with new regulations or risk losing validity. These are bridge courses, not replacements.
- Private courses: Useful add-ons (nutrition, biomechanics, tech) but cannot substitute an official certification. Hours are minimal and content is not certified by any official body.
- Legal requirement: Under Spanish Sports Law, only coaches with official certifications can register with the CCAA.

Beyond coaching
I'm an athlete too — that's the difference
Training athletes at the highest level means staying in the arena yourself. I compete as an age-group triathlete, with a current Ironman PB of 8:54h. I understand the training load, the sacrifices, and the race-day nerves from the inside.
I also travel constantly — to training camps, federations, and international events — because the best coaching methodologies are not all in the same country. I bring back what works and apply it to every athlete I coach.
Based in Girona — one of the world’s top endurance training destinations. 300+ days of sun, iconic cycling climbs, home of the Traka gravel race, and a year-round community of elite and amateur athletes.
"Great coaching comes from inside the arena — not just beside it."

Athletes say
I'm an athlete too — that's the difference

🌟 100% recomendable! 🌟
